Some interesting findings whether we have a list in India and has anybody done any work to test pesticide levels...
An extremely illuminating report from Centre for Science and Environment - New Delhi
http://www.cseindia.org/misc/cola-indepth/poison.pdf
which deals with the situation in India .....
Read pages from 41-60 ..
headlines are:
1. we have scant regulation
2. very high levels of pesticides are acceptable as per our laws compared to other countries
3. many bodies are authorized to test but not take action , so we have reports of high pesticide contamination but no action
4. Our children are the most affected
5. Only one total diet study in kanpur ( by a few interested scientists )has been conducted to date , in comparison to some western nations where it is conducted every quarter !

A Powerful Healing Journey

Community Supported Agriculture is an optimal answer for poorly-regulated countries. City folk should encourage farmers to acquire FAO GAP certification. Similarly, processed food labels should contain information on residues just as is done for nutrition information. The fruit ranking surprises me. Peaches do not require anywhere near the amount and frequencies of pesticide applications as many other crops lower down the ranking in this post. I suspect sampling errors and that tests have not followed GLP protocols.
ReplyDeleteIn my opnion to use of pesticides r very common in all crops, vegetables, fruits anf food proceesing ,Can these list should send the Authorities in Cenral Govt ?, the circular should issues to all state chief Minister, governor sri to avoid the use in Agriculture practices.
